Most children go through this from time to time. A fun little game I play with them is something I like to call, “Find the Note”. So the name isn’t terribly creative, but the activity is very effective!
Have a sheet of music in front of you and your kids, whichever song you are currently working on is fine. Decide which note you are going to identify and get ready. You will run your finger along the line or space where the note appears and ask your child to stay “STOP” when you run across one. Then with a pencil, write the note name below the note.
This is really easy, the children have lots of fun playing it, and it really does seem to increase their reading skills. Try it today, you may be surprised!
